A Legacy of Family and Tradition

Smith Orchards has been family-owned and operated by Rob and Wende Richter since December 1986. The orchard’s roots go back to 1929 when Charlie Smith planted the original 800 trees. Following Rob's passing in 2018, Wende and her son, Chad, have proudly continued the farm’s legacy. Today, we grow a wide variety of apples, including popular favorites like Macintosh, Red and Yellow Delicious, Cortland, JonaGold, Ginger Gold, Autumn Gala, IdaRed, and Macoun. Remarkably, about 50 of Charlie’s original trees still thrive, and we plant new trees each year to keep the orchard growing strong.
